'KAHAANI'-says what?

Kahaani is a nifty thriller with a sense of excitement rolling through the eyes of the viewers due to its utterly engaging plot and commendable performances by the entire cast. Revolving around the character of Vidya Bagchi (played by Vidya Balan), this movie is about a pregnant computer engineer who comes from London to Kolkata in search of her missing husband Arnab Bagchi. Clueless about his ware abouts, this helpless yet determined woman continues her troublesome odyssey until she reaches her destination. Supported by a number of characters like that of Rana (played by Parambrata Chattopadhyay), Vidya Balan single handedly takes the story forward and is successful in keeping audience’s interest at its peak till the end.

A strong story line and magnificent screenplay is what makes this movie a must watch for all. Besides this the movie has been entirely shot in the city of Kolkata and being a “BONG” myself, I do feel that the aesthetics have been captured beautifully. Rolling the camera from the dingy streets of one of the oldest city with small Chai-walas loitering around to capturing the mammoth and gigantic figure of lord Durga during Puja, everything has been done with utmost perfection yet with a lot of simplicity.

Kahaani creates a very strong screen space and develops a connection with its audience; wherein Vidya’s pain starts pricking us time and again, while the entire question of Arnab Bagchi’s existence takes us into a confused state of mind. Various suspicious characters and crude locations complement to the essence of this movie, riding us high on the adventure quotient.

The pace of this movie has been well maintained by its Director Sujoy Ghosh and the treat of a shocking climax after a slight monotony helps the audience to grab the best of it to ponder upon. The background score of this movie is yet another section that truly needs to be appreciated as it not only has added to the flavors of the story but has also emphasized the various emotions of the protagonist.
Driven by thrill, suspense and anxiety, Kahaani entails in itself the various facets of human life; like the ills of terrorism and corruption, the system and its dark side, the humane side of a pregnant and helpless woman and the help that she gets from unknown people.

All in all this movie is far from a regular commercial movie and narrates a beautiful ‘Kahaani’ to all its viewers. A simple looking story with a number of twist and turns that will take you on a roller coaster ride……A MUST WATCH!!

Obsession

I blinked my eyes as I just saw her in front of me. She was the one whom I had dreamt of since my childhood and I still felt it was a dream, until a soothing blow of air touched me and made me come back to my senses.

She was so beautiful; clad in a red flowing gown with golden laces embracing it, that further made her seem irresistible. I felt the thin strands of hair standing on my skin; these Goosebumps made me go gaga about her. The oomph in her could not sync in with me and I felt myself like a lifeless piece of cloth draping on the wall watching her steal away with my creases.

Scintillating and vivacious was her style and her reflection in my eyes made my eyeballs glow like a candle in utter twilight. I was sinking in her dreams until the phone rang and the voice on the other side said “You self obsessed bitch, come down. I am waiting for you since past 45 minutes.”

Ohhh then was the time that I realized that as soon as I leave the room, the mirror would be left all abandoned. It will starve and die in my absence, until I am back to lend my curves to the silver lined medium so that it can feed on my unequivocal reflection.

New Age Public Relations

In this age of globalization, while man seems connected to the society through wireless connections, Internet seems to be gradually becoming the basic necessity for sustaining life on Earth. If the earlier mantra was that of Internet being available where man is living, the mantra for today would be that of man being found at places where internet can be accessed. It’s strange but true.
Internet has slowly and steadily creeped into our lives and has made a profound place for itself irrespective of which field or which decade are we talking about; it is no more a desire but has become a mandate for human kind. It’s the millennium for empowering the tool of internet for the various facets of life, be it business, education, science and technology or public relations.
Public Relation is a very old phenomenon that has got immense recognition in the recent times. While our glorious past have records of kings sending out notices on scrolls for their kingdoms and offering free alms for their consumption, the current trend is to send out press releases and organize “n” number of CSR activities to garner public support and confidence. It’s an age old practice that has been shaped up with the aesthetics of new environment and technology.
While people are trying to establish themselves as best amongst the rest, the rest are just trying to do the same with practices of advertisements, marketing and public relations. As the name suggest public relations is not only about building relation with the public but also building a public that is just in relation with you and not your competitors. Traditional Public Relations has been used since the inception of the new and modern world, however its now the time for digital PR to take over the traditional one, for things are changing its way with just a single blink of an eye.
The digital world is the predominant world now and public relations has become predominant in the digital world for most of the farsighted companies that see tomorrow before than today and know that the world is soon going to become digitized. It’s not only about search engine optimization or about creating awareness amongst the public for your product or company but it’s about creating a new and unique market for yourself that is strong because of the public credibility that you hold.
While advertising follows a path of paid publicity, Public relations is all about coverage facilitated through convincing power, creation of strong fan base and effective story pitching. Digital PR moreover creates a personalized method of reaching out to the masses, thus making PR activities more effective and efficient in meeting goals. Besides this the digital way of communication not only opens up the world on the platform of computer’s screen but also helps in setting tangible and achievable targets that can be easily monitored for estimating immediate audience response; not really possible through traditional PR.
Be it the tedious task of target market segmentation, choosing the right target audience or finding out ways of reaching out to them, the digital world is capable of doing all this and even more. Digital PR is about being a client for the computer, using the computer as a medium for your client and treating the computer as your client, with each role used in solving 10,000 different situations.
Its awareness, its recognition, its perseverance, its conviction and it’s the only truth, digital PR is all that is there in the business world and all that the business world needs to grow and flourish. In simple words it’s the computer and the urge to reach out to the world, which has changed the way things are looked at and guess what it’s the digital eye that is going to change the world’s point of view.
